Amazon Immersion

riverside communities and way of life

 Negro river

Our immersion in the Amazon takes place 64 km from Manaus, in a riverside community called Tumbira, which is on the right bank of the Rio Negro and belongs to the Rio Negro Sustainable Development Reserve, a natural area that houses traditional populations living in sustainable exploitation of natural resources.

The origin of the riverside population in Tumbira, present in Rio Negro, derives from a migratory process of several families from Northeast Brazil and other regions of the Amazon, some even from Rio Negro itself, due to the incentives for extractive production during the 19th and 20th centuries.

The region of our immersion is surrounded by Amazonian natural beauty, talents, community protagonists and warm and welcoming hosts.
